電子香爐用途廣泛，可以用於使用精油、練香、香粉、香片、香木碎、香木塊、樹脂等各種形態的香料。電子香爐的好處是，不用使用蠟燭或炭等，都可以慢慢薰香，而且不會出現煙氣和插電即可使用，方便在室内、辦公室使用。而且由於慢薰之下，香料可以持續清幽淡雅發香一個小時以上。不過味道一定比起燒香的擴香力微弱。
溫馨提示：由於樹脂類香料遇熱溶化，為了方便清理，使用樹脂類香料必須要另外使用錫紙包著小碟子或者製作成小碟而承載，如是者樹脂香料用完的時候，可以整塊錫紙棄掉。其他香粉、香片、香木碎、香木塊則不需要。
